             LIFE  OF  PLY

  y'know, being Next-New Pope affords one all kinds of privileges and insights.
  
  I recently had the  good misfortune to be be approached by Kevin McCloud, from the Channel4 TV programme GrandDesigns . ... a presenter guaranteed to dampen
any ill-gotten enthusiasm.
Not so long ago Kevin went to India - the Mumbai Slum maybe - to 'experience' living rough, or to participate in PovertyPorn  perhaps, ?who knows
And now, on the strength of this strong morel&personal crusade, 
McCloud/Channel4 have come up with the idea of a programme which will look 
at the possibility of (re)introducing plywood shanty-towns into remote parts of Kent,  a scheme which has already met with some resistance *
    (  * see  !Not on my vetch you don't ! - Moley's-in-Kent;  Montey Panessar  )
Well, wishing to deal with a Proper Faith this time (non-Eastern), KM approached me  in my role as Head of a hole-host of Higherarkikles within TheEstablishedChurch  ..  to see whether we Higherarks would be willing to participate in a socio-religious experiment, to leave behind our fancyfandangoes,
our feather-lined koops, and undergo instead some 'rough living' - 
 Man&Pigeon/Pigeon&Man  - in a model-plywood-neophytic-shantytown in ruralKent. 
This would be directed under the umbrella of what might euphemistically be called
Gliberation Theology, which is to take a  Glib Idea  and throw Religion at it to give it Significance.
Well, one thing we can say here is that McCloud doesn't always make the most of
those detective skills he must have picked up in the 70's when he was a regular
TV cop; so, now as before, he is unable to detect when people are getting pissed
off with his presence   and NOT ! presents -  he never brings bleedin' presents to make up for all the bleedin' upsets ! not on your nelly
Anyhoo, all of this shindigaroo is captured on film  
and   in that way   I suppose    Life of Ply     is born.
