SPIRIT MAN


     the  World Vision's  
                           spiritMan's banner   professed      to see
                                                                               hope  every day ,
and requested       every child
                          to be free from  fear .
                                                            His complacency,
    well-chiselled ,  worried me ,
                                            especiallly as He had been
              at each entrance
              to each station
                            I had 'ere visited
                     on all my whistleStop  tours.

The airless city
whisked him up                           magicallly
                           as some fat, jolly flier,
                                                           campaigning  for  Hope Springs
where, in the after-life ,
                                         we'd all be sipping
                 pure   or   sacred  water
                                               to our heart's content .   (and )
                                                to His satisfaction.
But(t),  for all his stern prowess,
                                         he lacked any powers
                                                                  of observation.
(for)   He had failed to spot
                         the goldenpenny  I had spied 
                                        and thus desired.
(yet/still)             Not to be outshone,
                         or              outdone ,      his foot       however
                                                                                   was  off the  mark
                                                                            at lightning speed ;
                                      protecting  that  heavenly  treasure
        until the last
